Home Office Makeover in Granite Bay, CA
This room’s earlier life as a large bedroom was changed into a useful multi-purpose room that the whole family could use and enjoy. There was a closet on one side, but since it was no longer going to be used as a bedroom, the closet had become wasted space. We had the header and doors removed from the closet and then turned that space into a built-in entertainment center.

We installed lower entertainment center cabinets, two side sections with opaque doors, and a center section with glass doors for DVD, sound, and other electronics that have remotes. On the top, open shelves were put in on either side and above the big screen tv to display family pictures and artwork.
The opposite side of the room was converted into a custom office space that incorporated a computer work area with plenty of counter space to lay out projects on. All upper cabinets were left open to display photos and artwork, while the lower cabinets were incorporated doors on them for longer term storage of items and filing drawers were put in to store paperwork and.

Rounded open radius display shelves were used on both ends of the home office area to soften the transition to open wall space. They add in a great spot to showcase accent items and help to tie the room together with a softer look.
A false back which we refer to as a privacy panel was installed in the knee space area to hide all of the wiring for electronics and is held in place by magnetic catches for easy access. As you can see, without it the cords are in quite a bit of a mess, but with it in place, it looks neat and tidy and there are no cords for your feet to catch on.
